A leading manufacturer in mineral-based solutions in the UK is seeking an Operative for their site in Lee Moor, Devon. In this hands-on role, you will support day-to-day operations to ensure production targets are met while maintaining safety and quality. Ideal candidates should have production experience, teamworking skills, and a strong safety focus. Operative
Location: Herreschoff Kilns, Lee Moor, Plympton, Devon, PL7 5JP
Salary: £30,712 per year (inclusive of shift allowance)
Hours of work: 38.5 per week on a 4-week rotating day & night shift pattern:
Day Shifts: Week 1: 6am – 6pm - Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat & Sun (Wed & Thurs off)
Week 2: 6am – 6pm Wed & Thu (Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat & Sun off)
Night Shifts: Week 3: 6pm – 6am - Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat & Sun (Wed & Thurs off)
Week 4: 6pm – 6am Wed & Thu (Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat & Sun off)

The job role
Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you’ll play a hands-on role in supporting the day-to-day operations, helping to ensure our production targets are met efficiently and safely. Once trained, you’ll work across multiple areas including the IBC machines, bagging lines, and the Polarite plant.
Key responsibilities include:
• Line monitoring and quality checks
• Operating IBC machines and bagging equipment
• Conduct product sampling and testing
• Pre-shift checks and maintaining logs
• Driving forklifts to move materials and goods (if trained/licensed)
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment
• Support general warehouse and production duties
• Assist in maintenance and troubleshooting activities

You will:
• Experience in a production or manufacturing environment (preferred)
• Hold a forklift licence (preferred)
• Possess strong teamworking and communication skills
• Have a safety conscious attitude with attention to detail
• Be flexible and adaptable to learn new tasks within the plant
• Have a good level of numeracy, literacy, and IT competence.
• Legally be able to drive in the UK
