Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.
We’re transforming the way we work in E&M and Property Services—creating a more dynamic, efficient, and effective operation. This role is central to that transformation.
This is your chance to be part of something bigger—shaping our services, leading from the front, and making a real difference every day.
We’re seeking two Operations Team Leaders for our E&M Service Delivery team—one in Aberdeen and one in Inverness.
You will play a key role in maintaining Scotland’s water supply—literally. You’ll lead a skilled, multifunctional craft team providing Electrical, Mechanical, and Field Automation support across Scottish Water’s operational sites.
You’ll be responsible for performance, people, and processes, ensuring your team delivers excellent service while maintaining efficient operations. Your duties include managing budgets, addressing operational challenges, and developing your team, acting as the driving force behind success.
Safety is paramount—always. You’ll lead health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives, promoting improvements that protect your team and set standards for the wider E&M community.
Your work will have a tangible impact—enhancing business performance, exceeding customer expectations, and satisfying regulators. You’ll collaborate closely with operational teams, building strong relationships and strengthening the E&M service.
Primarily, you’re a people person—a natural leader capable of building, supporting, and developing a high-performing team through coaching, delegation, and support.
You excel at bringing people together and working with diverse stakeholders, building strong relationships, and maintaining alignment. Your communication skills are excellent—you can engage with frontline teams and senior stakeholders, simplifying complex information effectively.
You are proactive, making smart decisions in fast-paced, high-demand environments. You can analyze information and make the right decisions when it matters.
Being tech-savvy is a plus. You should have solid skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with Ellipse, Salesforce, and Take 5 is advantageous, but a quick learner can pick these up.
A good understanding of Electrical and Mechanical systems, especially in water and wastewater processes, would be beneficial. Leadership experience? Even better, as it will be invaluable in this role.
Finally, you must hold a full, current driving license.
We value work-life balance. This full-time role (35 hours/week, Monday to Friday) offers 38 days of holiday annually (including public holidays), with options to buy additional days. Paid community volunteering leave is available.
We support family-friendly policies—adoption, maternity, and parental leave—and embrace flexible working arrangements.
Your future benefits include a pension scheme, life assurance, and an annual company bonus. You’ll also have access to SW Splash, offering discounts on holidays, bills, and shopping.
This role is a Grade 7 position. The starting salary for new Scottish Water employees is £41,000, with performance-based progression up to £51,970.
Offers are conditional upon passing pre-employment screening, which is conducted by a third party with your prior consent. Your start date will be confirmed once screening is complete.
If interested—or if you know someone who might be—applications are open until midnight on Sunday 11 May 2025.
If you don’t meet every criterion, don’t let that deter you from applying. We often hire candidates who are still developing skills. We’re committed to making adjustments to support applicants with disabilities, neurodiversity, or temporary challenges—please ask if you need accommodations.
All employees must be Scottish taxpayers and reside in Scotland. If you’re not already here, you’ll need to move within three months of starting.
Applications submitted more than 12 months ago will be removed from our database automatically—no action needed on your part.
