Job summary

ChampionX is seeking an Operations Support Technician for its Fawley Plant near Southampton. You will perform quality control testing on raw materials, in-process samples, finished products and returns, and support shift coverage as part of the OST team.

You will maintain QC records in the SAP database, update work instructions, and assist with introducing new products, ensuring calibration and safe operation of lab equipment. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree/HNC in science or related field.
• 2 years’ experience in a laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

• Quality control testing of raw materials, in-process samples, finished products and returns.
• Shift coverage as part of the OST shift team.
• Communicate QC failures to relevant parties on site.
• Fault finding on problem batches to enable timely release or recovery of non-conforming material.
• Maintain QC records in the SAP database and update procedures as required.
• Assist with introduction of new products, including data in SAP and preliminary testing.
• Ensure equipment is calibrated and operating correctly.
• Follow QHSE procedures and report safety observations as required.

Responsible for fault finding on problem batches; enabling the timely release of products to customers or recovery routes for non-conforming material.* Be responsible for maintaining all QC records including information in the SAP database. Updating QC work instructions and procedures as required, including the development of new work procedures on introduction of new analytical tests / equipment.* Assists as required during the introduction of new products into the plant, including creation and maintenance of recipe and specification data in SAP database and preliminary blending and testing prior to full scale manufacture.* Ensure all equipment is operating in good order and kept in calibration according to the required schedule.* Understand all the relevant QHSE procedures for the ChampionX Fawley Plant, and specifically the QC Laboratory.* Be responsible for safety, making timely reports and observations as and when required.**Minimum Qualifications:*** Degree/HNC in science related qualification and at least 2 years’ experience in a laboratory.* Practical understanding of laboratory equipment.* Excellent communication, time management and prioritisation skills.* Commitment to training to facilitate confidence in lone work when necessary.* A flexible approach to working and ability to work with others team members and other departments to achieve objectives.* Competent user of Microsoft packages (excel, word).* Immigration sponsorship not available for this role.**Physical Demands:*** This role requires working in a lab environment.**Preferred Qualifications:*** Degree/HNC in chemistry.
