Job summary

SUEZ in the United Kingdom seeks a Health & Safety professional to support the Regional Operations Manager across multiple sites, driving compliance, safety performance, and continuous improvement.

The role includes conducting audits, risk assessments, inductions, training, incident investigations, and reporting to inform management decisions. Regular travel across regional sites is required.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and risk management principles.
  • Experience in waste management, logistics, transport, manufacturing, utilities, or similar environments.
  • Proven ability to influence behavioural change and drive measurable improvements.
  • Experience delivering training, coaching, competency assessments, and practical operational support.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Regional Operations Manager in maintaining high standards of performance, compliance, service delivery, and safety across multiple sites.
  • Drive continuous improvement in HSE and operational compliance through coaching, auditing, and training.
  • Conduct site audits, risk assessments, and safety inspections to identify risks and implement corrective actions.
  • Deliver inductions, driver assessments, and competency evaluations to improve operational standards.
  • Promote a positive safety culture by engaging with operational teams and encouraging safe behaviours.
  • Support accident investigations and implement preventative measures based on root cause analysis.
  • Monitor regional HSE performance, analyse trends, and provide practical recommendations.
  • Assist site management with implementing company procedures and safe systems of work.
  • Lead regional improvement projects focused on efficiency, compliance, and safety performance.
  • Produce management reports to measure progress and support decisions.

Job description

What will I be doing?

  • Supporting the Regional Operations Manager in maintaining high standards of operational performance, compliance, service delivery, and safety across multiple sites.
  • Driving continuous improvement in health, safety, environmental, and operational compliance through coaching, auditing, training, and proactive intervention.
  • Conducting site audits, risk assessments, management checks, and safety inspections to identify risks and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Delivering inductions, driver assessments, competency evaluations, and targeted training programmes to improve operational standards and reduce accidents and incidents.
  • Promoting a positive safety culture by engaging with operational teams and encouraging safe behaviours across the workforce.
  • Supporting accident and incident investigations, identifying root causes, sharing lessons learned, and implementing preventative measures.
  • Monitoring regional health and safety performance, analysing trends, and providing practical recommendations to improve compliance and operational performance.
  • Supporting site management teams with the implementation of company procedures, safe systems of work, and statutory requirements.
  • Leading and supporting regional improvement projects focused on operational efficiency, compliance, and safety performance.
  • Producing management reports and performance data to measure progress, track compliance, and support decision-making.

What are the requirements?

  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, operational compliance requirements, and risk management principles.
  • Experience within waste management, logistics, transport, manufacturing, utilities, or a similar operational environment.
  • Proven ability to influence behavioural change and drive measurable improvements in health, safety, and operational performance.
  • Experience delivering training, coaching, competency assessments, and practical operational support.
  • Strong accident investigation, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently whilst building strong relationships across multiple sites and operational teams.
  • Experience conducting site audits, safety inspections, driver assessments, and compliance reviews.
  • Full Class 1 or Class 2 HGV driving licence.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly across regional operational sites.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) desirable.
  • IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent) desirable.
