Job description

What will you be doing?

Subsea7 are looking for an Operational Support (OS) Manager to join our Offshore Resources (OR) Fleet & Equipment (F&E) Department on a full-time, permanent basis. This role will be based out of our Westhill, Aberdeen office.

The OS Manager is responsible for the management of a multi-skilled specialist team covering Pipelay, ROV, Dive, Crane & Construction disciplines to provide operational support and technical guidance related to the OR managed vessels and assets and mission equipment.

Reporting to the Global OR F&E Group Fleet Director, the OS Manager will be responsible for managing the team located in the Aberdeen & Rio de Janeiro office. Effective communication lines and collaboration to the Fleet Management, the P&O Regional Management Teams and key equipment manufacturers/service companies are a key aspect of this role. The integration and understanding of the Regional Project Teams requirements are primary responsibilities of this role, along with offering technical and operational guidance and solutions to the project and vessel teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effective and consistent Asset & Equipment Integrity Assurance Management.
  • Implement effective OPEX & CAPEX Budget Control measures.
  • Ensure equipment tasks are optimised while remaining within the agreed allocated budgets and delivered to the requested standards.
  • Optimise and enhance operational efficiencies on the assigned systems operational ‘up’ time while remaining within the allocated budgets.
  • Effective and controlled delivery of new or maintained, partial or full, equipment/ systems to vessels.
  • Provision of engineering and structural services to support the F&E activities.
  • Continual evolvement of systems and associated equipment via regular documented Technical Review/ Management.
  • Participate in routine reviews of Maintenance & Repair Budgets with Fleet & Equipment finance personnel and respective equipment team.
  • Ensure that budgeted Capital Expenditure applications are submitted in a timely manner with proper business justification and that these projects when approved are delivered on time and on budget.
  • Responsible for the continuous improvement of specifically assigned documentation within the BMS including technical management instructions and other departmental instructions to maximise their technical and commercial effectiveness.
  • Regularly liaise with relevant stakeholders, specifically P&O Directors / Project Managers / Project Engineers to ensure complete transparency regarding equipment work scopes and operational support issues.
  • Ensure timely and accurate inputs (specifications, budget and schedule) are provided to the Technology & Asset Development team for all equipment spreads being part of a new build vessel / equipment programme.
  • Incorporate the F&E strategies and annual plan into key realistic goals and deliverables for department personnel. Provide adequate support, training and guidance towards the team members to enable them to carry out their role to the fullest.
  • Supports the professional and career development of Self and direct reports through continued professional training, mentoring, and on the job development.

  • Technical working knowledge of Systems and Planned Maintenance associated with mission/ project related equipment.
  • Extensive background knowledge related to Pipelay, ROV, Dive and Construction equipment / operations in the marine / subsea Industry.
  • Previous experience of drawing interpretation/validation and responsibility for key documentation approval and management.
  • In depth working knowledge of local and global legislation related to mission equipment.
  • Previous experience of supervising and developing multi-skilled teams.
