Job Description: We are looking for an enthusiastic Transport Supervisor to join our team. This position will be working within the transport team and will involve all aspects of the transport administration processes and coordination of the day-to-day running of this busy contract.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Transport Manager in leading, motivating, and developing a high-performing transport team.
  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of drivers and operational staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Plan and manage transport schedules during peak and off-peak periods, ensuring optimal resource allocation.
  • Monitor and adjust operational plans in real-time to address challenges and maintain service levels.
  • Oversee the accurate checking, scanning, and loading of freight into and out of the depot.
  • Ensure all freight is handled in accordance with company procedures and customer expectations.
  • Act as a key point of contact for customers, maintaining strong relationships and resolving issues promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with transport regulations, including driver hours, vehicle checks, and legal documentation.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to uphold health and safety standards across the operation.
  • Produce and analyse Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and daily operational statistics to monitor performance.
  • Provide regular reports to management with insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Handle internal and external queries professionally via email, phone, and face-to-face communication.
  • Provide direct support in the event of vehicle breakdowns or transport disruptions, ensuring swift resolution.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless logistics and operational integration.
  • Promote a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement within the transport team.
  • Assist in the implementation of new systems, processes, and compliance initiatives as required.
  • Conduct driver debriefs and performance reviews to ensure accountability and development.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of new transport staff as needed.

Required Experience:

  • Previous experience working in a transport environment, including knowledge of working time directive and EU driver’s hours.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Strong geographical knowledge of the UK.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload.
  • Critical attention to detail and ability to meet daily deadlines.
  • Able to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
  • MS packages to include, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Proficiency in MS packages, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
