Ballinger & Co. is a fast-growing independent FX risk management provider serving financial institutions and corporate clients with large FX needs. An Operations Specialist role offers training by the Head of Operations & Trade Support and opportunities to specialise as the business expands.

The position involves real-time payment processing, reconciliation, and client service with formal CISI training and development pathways. Salary is £35,000-£40,000 per year.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in domestic and/or international payment processing.
• High attention to detail to ensure payment accuracy and timely delivery to beneficiary.
• Ability to analyse payment instructions for viability and compliance with guidelines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Post incoming wires and process outgoing wires, reconcile and verify trades.
• Handle real-time processing of client instructions and beneficiary details.
• Create, review and approve payments (domestic and international).
• Review, cancel, amend or modify FX transactions as required.
• Communicate with clients for clarification of beneficiary instructions or trades.
• Reconcile bank accounts with the treasury management system.
• Coordinate with Risk Team to ensure exposure is covered and margin calls are met.
• Contribute to projects and process improvements.
• Participate in ongoing training and CISI exams.

Job description

Ballinger & Co. is an independent provider of foreign exchange risk management and trading services to financial institutions and corporate clients with large and complex FX requirements.

We are a fast growing, well funded business run by a team of FX specialists who previously built and sold the UK's largest FX broker.

Having launched the business in 2020 and achieved all our goals to date, we now seek to expand our back‑office team with an additional Operations Specialist who will be trained by our Head of Operations & Trade Support back office all‑rounder, with scope to progress and specialise as the business grows.

Salary £35,000-40,000

Responsibilities

• This position serves a pivotal role in Operations, supporting multiple work streams as required, including but not limited to posting of incoming wires, processing of outgoing wires, reconciliation, trade verification and queries.
• It will serve in the real‑time processing of client instructions, including approving payment information, creating and/or reviewing beneficiary details, and following up with clients or other internal departments as required.
• Create, review and approve all payments (domestic and international).
• Review and cancel, amend or modify foreign exchange transactions as required.
• Communicate with clients when clarification of beneficiary instructions or FX trades is required.
• Reconcile bank accounts against our internal treasury management system.
• liaise with our Risk Team to ensure our exposure is covered and margin calls are met.
• Play a key role in a number of projects and improve processes.
• Receive ongoing training and development through training sessions and CISI exams.

Key Skills and Competencies

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in domestic and/or international payment processing.
• High attention to detail is essential to ensure payment accuracy and prompt delivery to the ultimate beneficiary.
• Ability to analyse payment instructions for viability.
• Ability to work within rules and guidelines.
• Very strong written and verbal communication skills.

Technical Experience

• Experience in a payments function.
• Experience in a reconciliation function.
• Understanding of KYC and client onboarding.
• Knowledge of FX payments industry.
