Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day safety, generation, and environmental performance of the plant. Providing supervision of the Shift Operations Technicians, you will ensure that plant optimisation and maintenance activities are carried out to ensure that availability and reliability are maximised.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the day-to-day safety and environmental performance of the plant.
- Responsible for maximising the availability of the plant and taking proactive measures to improve plant reliability.
- Implements the companies’ health, safety and environmental management policies.
- Participate in the HSE forum and initiate company/site HSE initiatives and activities, including procedure reviews on a periodic basis.
- Responsible for monitoring plant performance, identifying and taking proactive measures to improve performance shortfalls.
- To be authorised under the safety rules to the level of Senior Authorised Person to apply isolation, locks and safety tags, and the preparation and issuing of safety documents.
- Providing daily reports on all aspects of Plant performance.
- Writing/amending site Operational procedures, implementing changes and improvements as required ensuring all procedures are relevant and accurate.
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of turbines and generators Safe Systems of Work and the role of the enforcement agency (H.S.E).
- Environmental abatement requirements of modern Biomass plant and the role of the E.A.. Providing supervision of Production Technicians.
- First line fault finding, technical advice and back up, particularly in dynamic conditions such as unit start-up or trip. Shift logging, ensuring quality defect reporting, fault reporting and writing and review of operational work specifications.
- To work flexible working patterns in support of the business.
- Provide leadership and direction to the Production Shift Team, including managing individual and team performance.
Skills and Qualifications
- A high level of practical Operational/Maintenance experience/knowledge.
- A good understanding of all HSE aspects is a fundamental requirement
- NEBOSH or IOSH qualified is preferable and a good, practical working knowledge of thermal plant operations and control would be viewed positively.
- Knowledge and experience of thermal power plant process, permit and safety systems, performance monitoring, computers and computer applications.
- Familiar with a number of computer applications.
- Good interpersonal skills, self motivated, flexible and committed attitude.
- A minimum of 3 three years Power Plant experience, to a minimum level of operating from a control room.
