Operations Manager (STE4/BICS) | Midlands | Up to £60,000 + Company Vehicle + Bonus

The Civils & Infrastructure Team at Ford & Stanley is excited to be partnered with a civil and structural engineering consultancy that specialises in delivering structural investigations, inspections, testing, and asset management services across a variety of sectors. Due to several recently secured contracts and increased demand for their services, the company is seeking an experienced Structures/Bridge Examiner to work as an Operations Manager, leading the Inspections and Investigations team. The role will focus on multiple examination frameworks across the UK, primarily in railway bridge/structures inspections and additional sectors such as highways.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

1. Managing a team of six direct reports.
2. Organising the team and assigning resources effectively.
3. Collaborating closely with clients to understand work requirements.
4. Working with other teams for resource allocation.
5. Reviewing inspection reports for detailed examinations.

Salary/Benefits

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per annum. Earn up to 15% bonus each year. Company pension contribution. Company vehicle. Death & Critical Illness – They are just in the process of getting this in place, but it will be an optional benefit that staff can buy into/salary sacrifice. Candidate Essentials

1. Minimum of 5+ years of structural examination experience, holding STE4 / BICS competencies (Essential).
2. Demonstrated experience with various access methods (Essential).
3. A proven track record of effectively leading teams or divisions (Essential).
4. Strong experience in managing relationships with diverse stakeholders and clients (Essential).
5. A full UK driving license and the willingness to travel nationwide (Essential).
6. Commutable distance of either the Ilkeston or Chesterfield offices (Essential).
7. Relevant site qualifications, such as CSCS, SSSTS/SMSTS, First Aid Certification, IPAF/PASMA, IRATA, BICS, or STE2 (Essential).
8. A Civil or Structural Engineering degree (Desirable).

Working Arrangements

1. Hybrid Role: A mix of office, remote, and site-based work.
2. Office Locations: Based in Ilkeston or Chesterfield. You’ll be expected to work from your nearest office a few days each week for meetings with senior team members.
3. Inter-office Collaboration: One day per week will be spent at the other office location.
4. Travel Requirements: Site visits across the UK will be a regular part of this role.
