Job summary

Kara Foodservice in Manchester is seeking a Production Operative to join the production team within the Finsbury Food Group. The role involves operating machinery, mixing, packing, and palletising in a fast-paced bakery environment.

You will work in hot and cold environments, handle frozen goods, and perform quality checks while upholding hygiene and GMP standards, with opportunities for training and development.

Qualifications

• Experience in food production or manufacturing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate machinery and carry out production tasks including mixing, check weighing, packing, and palletising.
• Place finished products into the freezer and handle frozen goods safely.
• Work in hot bakery areas and cold storage; perform lifting and repetitive tasks.
• Carry out routine quality checks and follow SOPs; maintain hygiene and GMP standards.
• Adhere to health and safety practices; promote safe behaviours to avoid accidents.
• Participate in training opportunities and support production needs as required.

Job description

Location: Kara Foodservice, Manchester
Shift: Rotating shifts – 1 week on day shift and 1 week on night shift (4 x 12 hour shifts)
Salary: Competitive

We have a new opportunity for a Production Operative within our Production Team who would work at Kara Foodservice in Manchester. Finsbury Food Group is a leading speciality bakery manufacturer. We constantly raise quality and efficiency standards and build long-term relationships with major multiple retailers and the foodservice channel. The bread for your morning toast, ready for butter‑spreading or egg‑dipping. The candle‑filled centrepiece for a memorable celebration. The buns, muffins and other treats that turn teatime into quality time. Our Fletchers bakery has over 125 years of baking tradition, with our Kara bakery supplying delicious wholesale bakery products for over 35 years starting with the first floured bap. Both have been part of the Finsbury Food Group since 2014.

Responsibilities

You will operate machinery and carry out production tasks including mixing, check weighing, packing, and palletising. You will place finished products into the freezer and handle frozen goods safely. You will work in environments where temperatures can be extreme (hot bakery areas and cold storage) and perform manual tasks including lifting and repetitive movement. You will complete routine quality checks and follow all SOPs and maintain excellent hygiene and GMP standards across the production area. Maintaining high standards of hygiene and housekeeping will be a core part of your daily routine to ensure a safe and clean working environment. You will strictly adhere to health and safety practices, promoting safe behaviours and aiming for zero accidents. As part of your development, you will actively take part in training opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge. You will carry out any additional duties as required to support production needs and contribute to the overall success of the team.

Qualifications

• Experience in food production or manufacturing (preferred).
