Our Client is a specialty supplier and manufacturer of raw materials for the UK Chemical, Food & Pharmaceutical Industries.
They are seeking an Operations / Manufacturing Manager, based in Redditch, Worcestershire. This is a full-time, permanent role.
Job Purpose
- Manage multiple manufacturing sites, including a site specializing in food supplements, personal care, pharma products, and a chemical production facility, along with a warehouse operation for specialties.
- Develop manufacturing capabilities for new processes and ensure H, S, E & Q compliance in operations.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing
- Manage an agile manufacturing and facilities maintenance team.
- Develop production plans and schedules.
- Maintain equipment proactively.
- Develop and write SOPs.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with BRC, GMP, and chemical regulations.
- Participate in teams for new manufacturing processes.
- Transfer processes from R&D to manufacturing.
- Collaborate with QRESH & Innovation teams.
- Lead capital investments for processing equipment and commissioning projects, ensuring compliance with standards.
- Oversee cleaning, sanitation, and waste management.
- Support HACCP, TACCP, VACCP plans.
Warehouse Management
- Coordinate with the Warehouse Manager on specialty warehousing operations.
- Handle repacking and re-labelling of goods.
- Arrange transport and dispatch goods.
Health and Safety
- Manage operations risk assessments and COSHH assessments.
- Ensure proper handling and relay hazardous information via MSDS.
- Produce DGN when necessary.
- Ensure safe unloading of raw materials and mapping of chemicals and ingredients.
- Apply segregation rules for storage.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Background in Chemical Engineering or Chemical Processing.
- Leadership experience in BRC or GMP manufacturing or similar regulated operations.
- Strong communication skills.
- Attention to detail, especially weights and measures.
- Ability to work under deadlines and thrive in fast-paced environments.
- Enthusiasm for change and adaptability.
- Strategic and swift decision-making skills.
- Self-motivated with stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Professional telephone manner.
- Experience in a customer service environment.
Desirable Qualifications
- Forklift Truck license.
- Knowledge of chemical handling, labelling, and packing regulations (training provided).
- GMP or BRC operational experience.
- Chemical manufacturing operational experience.
The salary is £55,000 per annum plus benefits.
