Job overview:

This role is suitable for someone experienced in managing waste operations. Our Moreton Valence recycling facility covers over 30 acres near the A38. You will oversee site operations, staff, health and safety, and efficiency.

The ideal candidate enjoys outdoor work, is an excellent communicator, adaptable, enthusiastic, committed to continuous improvement, and comfortable working both outdoors and in the office.

Job Title: Operations Manager

Location: Gloucester (GL2 7NG)

Hours: 7.00am-5.00pm, with occasional outside hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all depot operations and administration at Moreton Valence, including Waste Transfer Station, Site Office, and Weighbridge.
  • Assist with environmental issues and liaise with Natural Resources Wales (NRW), supporting the Compliance, Quality, and Operations Managers.
  • Assist with Health & Safety issues, liaising with HSE, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations.
  • Ensure staff are trained, inducted, and equipped with necessary risk assessments and method statements. Maintain training records and review training needs annually.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, legislation, and industry standards. Manage fugitive emissions and maintain good relationships with local residents.
  • Oversee waste transportation to ensure timely, efficient, and environmentally safe loading.
  • Develop and maintain quality standards, maximize recycling and recovery rates, and ensure productivity meets financial targets.
  • Lead initiatives to increase recovery and recycling programs.
  • Understand operational issues, develop improvement plans, and manage costs and profitability.
  • Review financial statements, variance reports, and statistical analyses. Maintain internal controls.
  • Prepare and monitor budgets, cost reviews, and reports with the Divisional Operations Manager.
  • Manage maintenance requirements and planning.
