Job Description:

We are looking to strengthen our Delivery team with an Operations Manager based at our Inverness office with hybrid working available. You will report directly to the Head of Construction and your role will cover all Scotland-wide sites.

Role Overview:

The role of the Operations Manager is to ensure the efficient delivery of a portfolio of projects by managing a team of Project Managers to deliver a programme of work within the Scottish Water SR15 and SR21 Frameworks.

Projects will range from £2.5M to over £20M and will be located across the North and East regions of Scotland.

This position is a key senior management role with accountability for the delivery of the projects from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover, including interfacing with senior Client management.

In addition, the Operations Manager has the responsibility to manage, supervise, and develop a team of direct reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for the leadership and management of the nominated sector Operations Department Team and its functions.
  • Participate in the development of the Joint Venture and Operational strategies and advise on any impact to JV initiatives.
  • Ensure all operations are carried out efficiently, safely, and economically, protecting the company's interests, ensuring client satisfaction, and fostering repeat business.
  • Ensure projects are accurately reported regarding progress and cost.
  • Chair monthly cost review meetings with Commercial Managers to verify project reports. Present results to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), including all relevant information about current status and expected outcomes.
  • Review resource levels for current and proposed projects, ensuring adequacy to carry out operations.
  • Identify recruitment needs and obtain necessary resources as appropriate.
  • Manage and develop subordinates to achieve the targets of the joint venture.
  • Review and manage the performance of subordinates reporting to the Operations Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with ESD HS&S, Quality Assurance, BMS, and management procedures within your teams.
  • Innovate by challenging and rethinking processes and systems to improve efficiency, and make recommendations to the SLT.
  • Proactively solve problems, find solutions to obstacles for the benefit of the business, and share lessons learned and feedback with relevant SLT members.
  • Attend senior management meetings relevant to the role and support other Operations Managers within the Joint Venture.
