Job summary

ITV Granada Reports is seeking an Operations Manager in Manchester to lead all operational, logistical and technical aspects of the ITV News Granada service. You will manage a production team and support live broadcasts and multi-platform delivery, sometimes from the field or gallery, while maintaining budgets and health/safety standards.

This role requires background in live broadcasting, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work outside standard hours.

ITV Granada Reports

Workplace: Manchester (This is an office-based role, but some work can be done from home)

The Operations Manager is one of the most senior roles at ITV Granada Reports and is central to the running of our news output. Our Operations Manager leads all operational, logistical and technical fields for the ITV News Granada service and is responsible for managing our technical team of production specialists and camera operators. The role is extremely varied, with time spent on management responsibilities and undertaking operational tasks in the gallery or in the field to support our live broadcasts and multi-platform delivery when required.

Some experience of setting and managing budgets is desirable, as is an interest in technology and advances in production methods.

You will enjoy the challenge of a pressurised, deadline-driven operation and you will bring real passion for the industry and the news agenda across the patch. Candidates will ideally have a considerable background in live broadcasting, and an awareness and appreciation of the workings of the news environment is desirable. You’ll also be willing to help and support projects across ITV News from time to time.

To rise to the challenge, you’ll need excellent interpersonal skills and a willingness to be accessible to colleagues locally and in the wider company at all times. This is not a 9-5 role and ‘out-of-hours’ calls, including at weekends, are common. An in-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations is desirable, as are top-end administrative skills.
