My exclusive client, based in Hertfordshire, is a highly respected market-leading B2B Building Technical Services business providing a range of Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) services.

The company is currently undergoing an exciting and challenging period of innovative growth and development.

A high calibre Interim Operations Manager with operational, commercial and financial acumen is sought to provide strong hands-on Operational Management support to ensure smooth and efficient processes across the Fire Protection teams.

This is an initial fixed term 12-month Contract with strong prospects to evolve into an excellent perm career opportunity (if desired) for the successful candidate who “makes their mark”.

This role will require full day-to-day business involvement and proactive interaction with colleagues across the Organisation – therefore, while this is a hybrid role operating within this modern flexible business culture, you will need to be located within commutable range of Hertfordshire/M1 corridor.

To apply, you must also be able to start asap by mid-July latest (preferably sooner) and be able to commit to the full duration of this initial 12-month period.

The Role:

Reporting directly to the Head of Fire Protection and working in close collaboration with several Functional Team Leaders, key responsibilities/challenges will include:

  • Ensure efficient and effective Operations across the Fire Protection teams to help drive safe and more profitable business performance.
  • Compliance – Support the Testing and Certification Leads, ensuring ongoing compliance with all necessary standards, directives and regulations (ISO 17065, 17067).
  • Operational efficiencies – Identify areas for operational improvement across the Fire Protection teams to increase productivity, performance and profitability.
  • Reporting – reporting on the Fire Protection operational and financial delivery regarding finances, work, people, apparatus and compliance from the Testing teams.
  • Strategic Planning – contribute to the formation and implementation of departmental strategies and plans including business planning, forecasting and training.
  • Overall, to play a proactive Operations Management key role to improve productivity and successful business performance across the Fire Protection teams.

Candidate profile:

  • Due to the complex nature of this specialised industry, experience within the Testing, Inspection and Certification sector would be a major advantage.
  • Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems and their implementation.
  • Competency and experience with Third Party Certification and Assessments.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to challenge existing processes to support operational improvements and efficiencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and delegate tasks within a fast-paced business environment.
  • Commercial and financial acumen with experience of coordinating departmental budgets.

The Package:

  • Base salary to £70k – PAYE directly on company’s payroll.
  • Bonus on successful completion of this initial 12-month Contract.
  • 25 days + statutory holidays.
  • Benefits package.
