Job description

Amazon is seeking an Operations Manager for its Transportation team. In this role, you will work closely with fulfillment centers (FCs), sort centers (SCs), last mile (LM) logistics partners, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth management of line haul operations across Amazon's middle mile network.

As a Line Haul Manager, you will be responsible for executing carrier operations in your assigned city/region. You will collaborate with internal teams including Fulfillment Centers, Sort Centers, Network Design, S&OP, Air and Rail haul, EF team, and Last Mile operations, as well as external vendors and carriers. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to drive process improvements, adapt to our rapid growth, and motivate others. You should have a proactive attitude and be capable of solving problems independently with limited guidance. Your responsibilities will include managing operational metrics, leading continuous improvement initiatives, managing carrier relationships, and planning for network changes.

Key job responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day execution, planning, network expansion, and carrier management.
  • Build relationships with LH / MR carriers and key stakeholders.
  • Manage LH / MR schedules weekly and monthly.
  • Plan and scale capacities for peak sale events in collaboration with the central team and carriers.
  • Lead initiatives to improve network speed, reliability, and expansion.
  • Manage continuous improvement projects related to safety, cost, and efficiency.
  • Drive programs of national/regional importance with multiple stakeholders.
A day in the life
  • Develop GBs, optimize truck utilization, and monitor carrier arrival performance.
  • Conduct accident analysis and prepare bridge for WBR.
  • Plan BAU activities and analyze operations.
  • Coordinate with SLP and carriers to reduce in-transit losses.
  • Engage in safety improvements for yard and road safety.
  • Drive R4D training and adoption with carriers.
  • Ensure preregistration compliance, manage self-invoicing, and support new SC, FC, and station launches.
  • Prepare vehicle fleet plans, allocate carriers, and support ART event execution.
  • Assist sub LH functions like AF and AMXL.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
