Job summary

Rolls-Royce plc in the UK Defence Manufacturing Team invites applications for a Production Leader. You will report to Head of Manufacturing and oversee all operations within your area, ensuring safety, quality, cost and delivery targets are met in full.

You will lead a team of around 20, manage budgets, drive improvements and coach staff in a busy, delivery-focused environment. This role suits experienced leaders who thrive on accountability and collaboration in high‑performance manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading and managing teams (circa 20) in a manufacturing/operations setting.
  • Proven track record delivering against safety, quality, cost and delivery targets.
  • Strong communication and people leadership with ability to coach and engage.
  • Experience delivering against budgets and improving SQCDP performance.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver all Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People targets.
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environment policies.
  • Carry out load and capacity planning for the business.
  • Set, manage and control the budget including headcount and productivity.
  • Lead and manage employee development and performance through coaching.
  • Drive improvements to deliver better business results and customer satisfaction.

Position Summary

A fantastic opportunity to join the Defence Manufacturing Team as a Production Leader has become available. If you enjoy working in an energetic, busy and delivery focussed environment then this is the role for you. The business is responsible for the delivery of all OE & MRO components to various customers around the world. You will report to the Head of Manufacturing and be responsible for leading all aspects of Operations activity within your area of responsibility, with full accountability for ensuring that agreed current and future customer quality, cost, delivery and responsiveness requirements are met in full.

Accountabilities
  • Deliver all Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People targets
  • Ensure compliance with Company and legislative Health, Safety and Environment policies
  • Carry out short/medium/long term load and capacity planning for your business
  • Set, manage and control the budget for your business (including, headcount, productivity, overtime, absenteeism)
  • Lead and manage employee development and performance through active coaching and engagement
  • Drive improvements through the business which deliver improved business results and customer satisfaction
Preferred Requirements
  • Experience of leading and managing teams (circa 20) within an Operations Environment would be beneficial
  • Results oriented with a proven delivery track record within a demanding environment
  • Effective communication and people leadership skills with the ability to drive, engage and motivate others
  • Experience of delivering against financial targets and working within a budgetary framework
  • Evidence of delivering improved SQCDP performance in both favourable and unfavourable conditions
  • Passion for problem‑solving, providing solutions, accountability and the ability to focus on the most important priority and deliver with excellence.
  • Experience of working in a business with Trade Union representation
  • Shift Work (Monday – Friday) will be required & the working pattern is currently a 9‑Day Fortnight. (This in not a contractual and therefore not guaranteed)
