Job description

Hitachi Energy has an exciting opportunity to join our High Voltage business Unit as a Operation Manager you'll be responsible for overseeing the service business operations. Operational responsibility for a large functional business unit including Project Managers, Project Engineers, Quality, HSE and Field Service with the objective of improving performance and securing legal compliance in the most cost-effective manner.

You'll also ensure all responsible functions comply with Hitachi Energy policies and governance and identifying any areas of improvement and non-conformance.

Managing the overall operations of the department are conducted in accordance with company policies and procedures and are in compliance with health and safety guidelines.

How You'll Make An Impact

  • Overall Operations Manage for multiple T&D GIS bay extension projects across the UK including project lifecycle management, product supply, CDM and I&C activities through to project close out.
  • Ensuring the timely execution of projects with respect to the given schedules whilst adhering to the set quality standards and KPI’s during all execution phases.
  • Making important policy, planning and strategic decisions to ensure the effective implementation of a defined work process as well as operational development activities.
  • Preparing action plans for the entire process lifecycle to optimise output with respect to finance and staffing needs, providing information and recommendations to strategy implementation.
  • Oversee the department's performance relative to quality of work and responsiveness to customers' requirements and initiate remedial measures.
  • Preparation and presentation of financial and operational data for monthly, quarterly, and yearly KPIs.
  • Lead monthly project reviews with project management delivery team. Identifying areas of risk and deciding remedial actions.
  • Identification and forecasting of resource requirements and constraints. Actively involved with recruitment.
  • Cooperates and coordinates activities with other business units and teams to harmonise Service activities. Ensures the transfer of Service lessons learnt for improvement of Hitachi offerings.
  • Define, develop and introduce goals and objectives for the organisation and direct the implementation of plans for their cost-effective accomplishment.

Your Background

  • 5-10years Project Management experience on T&D projects
  • Field Service management experience. Distinct understanding between two different delivery streams (projects and field).
  • Proven experience in management experience
  • Thorough knowledge of CDM regulations and duties.
  • NEBOSH qualification or similar.
  • SAP experience – Project Cockpit preferred, project actual cost analysis, ROC
