Job description

Water and Waste business unit (WAW) is a true end-to-end business as part of Wärtsilä Portfolio Businesses. WAW is a global leader in designing and supplying innovative wet and dry waste equipment and freshwater generation solutions for passenger vessels & conventional waste management and ballast water treatment equipment for all marine segments. WAW has the industry’s broadest product offering to secure beyond compliant operations for our marine customers.

We have now a unique and exciting opportunity for an Operations Managerfor the Water and Waste business, based in UK, Poole, Dorset.

As the Operations Manager you will manage and oversee the coordination and delivery of operations in Supply Chain, Warehouse & Logistics and Quality functions, ensuring high-quality operational performance. Continuously improve resource efficiency and implement cost-control measures to optimize operations and minimise waste. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a proven track record in operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

  • Leads and plans the activities of the operations team, ensuring effective coordination and planning of operations activities, setting objectives, monitoring performance indicators, and ensuring efficiency, quality, and adherence to set specifications, schedules, policies and processes.
  • Lead and develope team leads across Logistics, Supply Chain, and Quality.
  • Implements and ensures adherence to operational strategies, policies and processes to enhance service delivery, compliance and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversees procurement, inventory control, and supplier relationship management. Optimize logistics and transportation to meet delivery targets and cost objectives and ensure accurate inventory management and stock integrity.
  • Fosters a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging innovation and efficiency in operational processes. Develops and optimizes operations functions to ensure the aspired lead time, quality and efficiency.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to support operational efficiency and collaboration. Fosters strong relationships with customers, understanding their needs and ensuring services meet their expectations.
  • Ensures compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies in all operations activities.

Qualifications and experience

  • Distinguished leadership background, demonstrating remarkable success in guiding high-calibre, multi-disciplinary teams to achieve outstanding results
  • Exemplary track record of leading transformational change and delivering sustainable business improvements
  • Sharp commercial acumen with the intellectual capacity to translate complex strategic vision into practical, results-driven solutions
  • Bachelor's degree in Operations, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • 5+ years in a senior operations role.
