Future Prospects Group Ltd. seeks an Operations Manager to lead and develop the operations, scheduling, and manufacturing teams across Newark/Mansfield.

You will drive efficiency, productivity, and compliance while supporting ERP implementation and cross-functional collaboration with the Finance and Engineering teams. The role requires a proven background in operational management within engineering/manufacturing, strong leadership, and extensive ERP/Sage/PSA experience.

Qualifications

• Proven background in operational management in engineering, manufacturing, or related contracting.
• Strong leadership with HR, performance management, and personnel development experience.
• Experience with inventory control, warehouse management, and procurement strategies.
• Experience overseeing logistics or service scheduling for multi-site projects and customer satisfaction.
• Solid knowledge of Health and Safety regulations across workshop, fleet and sites.
• Experience using Sage, PSA or modern ERP systems for board reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead operations, scheduling, and manufacturing teams; oversee recruitment, appraisals, and HR support.
• Manage scheduling to optimise engineer travel and forward diary planning by at least three months.
• Oversee warehouse and stock management; set KPIs balancing cash flow and availability.
• Develop and monitor supply chain strategies; negotiate terms and supervise subcontractors.
• Maintain high Health and Safety standards across all locations.
• Collaborate with Finance on supplier invoices, credits, and monthly billing; ERP implementation support.
• Produce monthly operational packs and KPI reports for the Board using Sage/PSA.

Full Time, Permanent, £60,000 plus Benefits

The Operations Manager is a pivotal leadership position with total accountability for driving operational excellence, efficiency, and sustainable growth across the organisation. Working in close collaboration with the Managing Director and Engineering Manager, you will lead multidisciplinary teams, champion outstanding customer delivery, and help embed modern business practices at the forefront of the environmental sector.

THE ROLE

• Leading and mentoring the operations, scheduling, and manufacturing teams, overseeing recruitment, appraisals, professional development, and day-to-day HR support.
• Managing the scheduling division to optimise engineer travel time, minimise costs, and ensure forward diary planning for maintenance and commercial installations by at least three months.
• Overseeing warehouse and stock management operations, setting inventory KPIs to balance cash flow with required operational availability.
• Formulating and monitoring robust supply chain strategies, negotiating terms with suppliers, and supervising subcontractor delivery and quality standards.
• Maintaining high standards of Health and Safety compliance across the workshop, head office, company fleet, and client sites in accordance with legislation.
• Supporting the design and implementation of a brand-new ERP system, ensuring streamlined working practices are fully adopted across the operations division.
• Collaborating with the Finance department to ensure accurate supplier invoice approvals, credit compliance, and prompt monthly billing.
• Producing detailed monthly operational packs and KPI reports for the Board using Sage and PSA software.

THE CANDIDATE

• Proven background in operational management within an engineering, manufacturing, technical field service, or related contracting environment.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities with hands‑on experience handling team development, conflict resolution, performance management, and HR processes.
• Strong understanding of inventory control, warehouse management, and strategic procurement negotiation.
• Experience overseeing logistics or service scheduling to ensure efficient multi-site project handovers and customer satisfaction.
• Solid working knowledge of operational Health and Safety regulations across workshops, fleet, and site‑based environments.
• Strong analytical ability with experience utilising business management software such as Sage, PSA, or modern ERP systems for board reporting.
