Job summary

Maclivaro Limited is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead manufacturing, warehousing, supply chain and QA at our Houghton Regis site. You will drive performance, optimise processes and contribute to the longer-term strategic plan.

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will own day-to-day operations, manage budgets, and implement Lean Six Sigma, 5S and Quality Management System improvements across the operation.

Operations Manager | Medical Devices | Houghton Regis

Maclivaro are supporting a growing medical device business in the appointment of an experienced Operations Manager to join their Senior Leadership Team.

This is a broad, hands-on operational leadership role with responsibility across Manufacturing, Warehouse, Supply Chain and Quality Assurance, as well as delegated responsibility for Health & Safety across the site.

The successful candidate will play a key role in driving operational performance, improving processes and developing the organisation’s longer-term strategy.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take ownership of the day-to-day operational performance of the business, ensuring manufacturing, supply chain, logistics and quality activities are aligned with customer demand and wider business objectives.

You will be responsible for:

• Leading Manufacturing, Warehouse, Supply Chain and QA functions.
• Managing production planning, material requirements, stock levels and supplier performance.
• Ensuring customer orders are delivered on time and proactively managing any potential delays.
• Owning operational KPIs, producing accurate performance reporting and driving corrective actions where required.
• Managing manufacturing and sourcing costs and supporting annual budget development and cost control.
• Developing and embedding Lean Six Sigma and 5S principles across the operation.
• Leading the company’s Quality Management System, ensuring standards are maintained and continually improved.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant medical device Quality and Regulatory requirements, including certification and registration.
• Planning and managing internal, external and supplier audits.
• Overseeing stock management, stock takes, goods in/out, expiry, preservation and write-offs.
• Developing supplier relationships, supplier performance, alternative sourcing strategies and supplier auditing.
• Taking responsibility for site Health & Safety.
• Leading, developing and coaching direct reports, including performance reviews, training and development.
• Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team to develop and deliver the organisation’s 3–5 year strategy.
• Driving a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and operational excellence.

About You

We are looking for an experienced operational leader who can combine strategic thinking with a hands-on approach.

You will ideally have:

• Strong experience in operations management within a regulated manufacturing environment.
• Experience across manufacturing, supply chain, logistics and/or warehouse operations.
• A strong understanding of Quality Management Systems and ISO standards.
• Experience working within the medical device, life sciences, healthcare or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.
• A good understanding of relevant medical device Quality and Regulatory requirements.
• Experience managing audits, suppliers and corrective actions.
• Proven experience leading and developing teams.
• Strong commercial awareness, with experience managing budgets, costs and operational performance.
• A track record of improving processes, systems and operational efficiency.
• Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, 5S or continuous improvement methodologies would be highly advantageous.
• The confidence to operate as part of a Senior Leadership Team and contribute to wider business strategy.
