Job Summary
We are pleased to be recruiting for a Band 8a Operations Manager to join our Addressing Adverse Childhood Experiences (AACE) pathway within Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD). This is a full-time role, fixed for one year and can be based at any of our locality sites across Devon, including Barnstaple, Tiverton, Exeter, Dartington, or Torbay.
You will work alongside the Clinical and Medical Lead, Named Nurse for Children in Care and the Safeguarding Nurse to oversee the Operational delivery of a compassionate, trauma-informed and responsive service supporting children and young people affected by adversity. This is an exciting opportunity to take a leadership role in shaping an innovative, integrated pathway for children in care, CFHD safeguarding team, children supported by social care, and others who have experienced significant early life challenges.
You will be part of a strong and supportive network of operational managers across CFHD and will play a pivotal role in influencing how we work with partners to deliver joined-up, needs-led care. The leadership model at CFHD (clinical, operational and medical leads) ensures you are supported in your leadership and able to drive service quality and development effectively.
Main duties of the job
- Provide operational leadership to the AACE team, supporting multidisciplinary staff across Devon.
- Work collaboratively with the other leads within the pathway to ensure services are safe, effective, and high-quality.
- Lead on performance, staffing, workforce planning and day-to-day service delivery.
- Ensure children and families receive timely access to care, maintaining strong links with referrers, partners and the wider system.
- Use data to monitor service demand and performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.
- Supervise and support staff to deliver trauma-informed care aligned to the THRIVE framework.
- Contribute to ongoing service transformation, embedding co-production and integrated working.
- Work closely with social care, education and system partners to ensure holistic support for children facing adversity.

- Professional clinical knowledge acquired through degree supplemented by post graduate diploma specialist training, management qualification or equivalent and experience.
- A professional qualification relevant to childrens healthcare (such as Social Work, Nursing, Clinical Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Psychological Therapy Qualification, Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy.)
- Professional registration/accreditation with a recognised body.

- Experience of working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers, clinicians, managers and leaders including using goal-based care and routine outcome measures in practice.
- Experience of Inter-agency working at a management level with successful track record of influencing and maintaining good working relationships
- Experience of delivering specialist clinical services for children with complex health conditions
- Experience of operational leadership
- Experience of supervising and managing others, leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams and developing positive supervisory relationships with a range of Health professionals
