Job description

Our hub at Stansted requires a qualified and motivated individual to join the operations maintenance team within the station as a Skilled Technician.

The role ensures that all plant and equipment on site is repaired and serviced to recognised standards and as identified within the preventative maintenance schedule, ensuring the minimum downtime of sortation equipment.

The Operations Maintenance Technician role is challenging and requires an individual with excellent organising and communication skills. Responsibilities include:

  1. Organising team maintenance and required equipment to ensure machinery is operated and maintained safely and efficiently within operational timeframes.
  2. Monitoring staff attendance and taking remedial action where necessary.
  3. Supervising the maintenance team and ensuring all documentation is completed accurately.
  4. Monitoring workflow, identifying potential problems, and taking corrective actions.
  5. Communicating effectively with Depot and Operations Managers, Section Leaders, and the Control Room.
  6. Ensuring smooth traffic flow across machinery with attention to Health and Safety.
  7. Completing all required information recording sheets nightly.
  8. Adhering to operational and maintenance procedures as detailed in the Group Operations Manual.
  9. Ensuring all equipment is returned to its designated area after use and maintained in safe working order, with defective equipment reported promptly.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, organized, hold a City and Guilds Electrical/Mechanical engineering qualification, and possess:

  • Knowledge of 16th or 17th Edition electrical regulations
  • Proven electrical/mechanical maintenance experience
  • Ability to read electrical schematic drawings
  • Understanding of PLC-controlled equipment
  • Flexibility with shift patterns
  • Understanding of health and safety legislation
  • Full driving licence
