Role Title: Operations Leader
Overview

We are seeking an experienced Operations Leader to join our team in Bolton.

The Operations Leader is responsible for ensuring the achievement of Safety, Quality, Service, Cost, and People expectations while continually striving for Operational Excellence. This role involves collaboration with functions such as EHS, Quality, R&D, Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, and HR. The Operations Leader will report to the Operations Director and be a member of the UK Industrials Leadership Team.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure a safe work environment and culture for employees and visitors, enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Maintain adherence to quality standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure environmentally responsible operations within the production department.
  • Set and deliver financial and non-financial budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor production costs, identify improvement areas, and implement cost reduction initiatives without compromising safety or quality.
  • Provide leadership and resources to ensure products and services meet company standards and customer specifications, achieving on-time and in-full delivery (OTIF).
  • Establish and monitor KPIs to assess manufacturing performance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Champion continuous process optimization, automation, and efficiency improvements.
  • Manage resources efficiently, including materials, labor, equipment, and energy.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the team to meet performance metrics.
  • Report plant performance regularly to senior leadership, highlighting successes and areas for improvement.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and ensure understanding and application of Mativ Values.
  • Collaborate with HR on training, career development, succession planning, and employee relations.
Skills and Experience
  • Strong commitment to safety and compliance.
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control, and cost optimization.
  • Proficiency in manufacturing software, ERP/MRP systems (SAP), and data analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is advantageous.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills to motivate a diverse team.
  • Proven manufacturing and leadership experience, including Lean Manufacturing.
