Job description

Job title: Operations Leader

Location:Barrow-in-Furness. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this role

Salary:Circa £48,000 depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Liaise and co-ordinate multiple sites, internal and external stakeholders to capture equipment scope including requirements capture, design and implementation of new production equipment, ensuring compliance with business and legislative requirements
  • Oversee the commissioning, validation, and qualification of equipment for submarine production
  • Develop and maintain equipment management strategies to optimise performance, reliability and lifespan
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory, defence and workplace health & safety standards

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

  • Degree / HND in Engineering, Facilities Management, Project Management, or a related field
  • Extensive experience in equipment management, commissioning, or compliance
  • Strong Stakeholder Management and communication skills with the ability to guide and influence
  • Experience in Risk and Issue Management and coping with uncertainty

Desirable

  • Strong engineering background with a focus in plant engineering and equipment is preferred
  • Experience of selecting and working manufacturing machinery
  • A good understanding of the Submarine shipyard build processes
  • A healthy understanding of the project lifecycle

The Operations team:

By joining us in this role, you will have a fantastic opportunity to work collaboratively as a team and contribute to the build and creation of a brand new shipyard in Adelaide, Australia. This new area will house our latest class of Submarines and play a key part in the development of our programmes going forward. The team will be working across a plethora of equipment and have the chance to really drive the future of our Submarine work going forward. There will be brilliant room for career development and an opportunity to travel to Australia. We offer relocation support across all Submarine roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
