Overview

We are looking for an experienced Operations Leader to join our team in Ashton.

The Operations Leader is responsible for ensuring that Safety, Quality, Service, Cost, and People expectations are met while continually striving for Operational Excellence. You will collaborate with other functions such as EHS, Quality, R&D, Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, and HR. The Operations Leader will report to the Operations Director and will be a member of the UK Industrials Leadership Team.

Responsibilities
  1. Ensure a safe work environment and culture for Mativ employees and visitors while enforcing policies and procedures.
  2. Ensure adherence to quality standards and regulatory compliance.
  3. Ensure that the production department operates in an environmentally responsible manner.
  4. Set and deliver financial and non-financial budgets & forecasts.
  5. Monitor and analyze production costs, identify areas for improvement, and implement cost reduction initiatives without compromising safety or quality.
  6. Provide leadership and resources to ensure products and services meet company targets and customer specifications on time in full (OTIF).
  7. Establish and track KPIs to assess and improve manufacturing performance.
  8. Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and efficiency improvements.
  9. Champion a culture of Continuous Improvement.
  10. Manage resources for optimal use, including materials, labor, equipment, and energy.
  11. Lead, coach, and develop your team to ensure effective delivery of metrics.
  12. Report plant performance to senior leadership, highlighting successes and areas for improvement.
  13. Drive cultural transformation ensuring all employees understand and apply Mativ Values to achieve results.
  14. Collaborate with HR to support training, career development, succession planning, and employee relations.
Skills and Experience
  • Commitment to safety and compliance.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control, and cost optimization.
  • Proficient in manufacturing software, ERP/MRP systems (SAP), and data analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodology is an advantage.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Leadership and interpersonal skills to motivate a diverse team.
  • Manufacturing and leadership experience, including Lean Manufacturing.
