Job description

The Operations Lead, Global Scientific Communications, Medical Information and Content Approval is responsible for supporting the VP, Global Scientific Communications and VP, Global Medical Information & Content Approval (GMI&CA) with operationalizing strategy, driving efforts to increase efficiency through centralized activities, and leveraging partners within and outside the organization to deliver objectives across Medical Therapeutic Areas (TAs). This role will be responsible for leading various initiatives across both organizations, managing budgets, and organizing team activities and communications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the Scientific Communications VP and GMI/CA VP to drive delivery of overarching scientific communications and GMI & CA strategies in line with Global Medical objectives.
  • Provide operational support and strategic insights to ensure alignment with GSK’s global medical plans, assisting in the preparation of strategic plans, presentations, and reports.
  • Analyze current processes and identify opportunities to increase efficiencies in centralized core work deliverables associated with the integrated medical communication plans (IMCPs) .
  • Leverage internal and external partners to optimize resource utilization and financial planning, ensuring enhanced productivity and effectiveness to meet business needs
  • Partner closely with cross-functional partners to facilitate pull through and execution of business-critical deliverables against KPIs/metrics of the Sci Comms.
  • Lead and manage cross-functional initiatives to ensure delivery of cohesive and effective scientific communications and GMI&CA deliverables across therapeutic areas.
  • Support the execution of the Integrated Medical Communications Plans (IMCPs), ensuring accurate documentation, progress tracking, and updates to central planning solutions.
  • Manage overall Sci Comms and MI/CA budgets to efficiently allocate resources, monitor expenditures, track performance, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement budget optimization strategies.
  • Develop and implement effective communication strategies and activities (ie, town halls, team events) to ensure alignment, transparency, and engagement and foster an inclusive team culture
  • Develop agendas, coordinate logistics, and ensure effective communication of key messages and updates across LT meetings and key activities.
  • Monitor team compliance to SOP training, acting as a point of operational contact during audits or reviews.

  • Bachelor's degree in science, communications, business administration, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in scientific communications, medical information, medical operations, or a related field within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, project management, and budget oversight with a strong understanding of medical affairs operational excellence
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to identify and drive process improvements
  • Demonstrated experience in communicating effectively and working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to lead and complete initiatives
  • Proficiency in digital content creation and management tools with solid technical capabilities in Excel, PowerPoint, and Team sites
  • Experience interpreting, analyzing, organizing, and presenting complex data to a broad range of audiences

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Local, regional, or global medical or R&D experience with relevant expertise in therapeutic area.
  • Scientific communication strategies for large global markets in US, UK, EU, China and Japan
