Job summary

Alfred H Knight invites applications for an Operations Graduate to join our UK Head Office in Prescot, Liverpool. The role offers a structured development pathway to build practical experience in operations, technical knowledge, commercial activities and data analysis.

You will respond to enquiries from Client Services, Head of Operations, Legal and Technical Dept, support offices, assist with investigations, complaints and projects, contribute to longer term initiatives and may travel to sample

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma showing ability to learn to a high level.
• UK driving licence is desirable.
• Second language or willingness to learn languages (Spanish, French, Portuguese, Mandarin).

Responsibilities

• Support operations investigations, client queries and legal/technical inquiries.
• Assist with sample preparation, Warehouses, ports and shipping yard activities.
• Contribute to longer term projects and cross‑functional initiatives.
• Respond to enquiries from Client Services, Head of Operations and other departments.

WHAT IS ON OFFER

Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for an Operations Graduate to join our team at our UK Head Office in Prescot, Liverpool.

As part of this role, you will follow a structured development pathway designed to help you build practical experience in operations, technical knowledge, commercial activities, and data analysis. You will support and respond to enquiries from Client Services, Head of Operations, Legal, Technical Dept, Local Office and more. Enquiries would include operations investigations, client complaints, legal queries, and general operational advice. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to longer term projects.

In addition, you will support UK and overseas offices in sample preparation facilities, in warehouses, at ports, at checkpoints, at shipping yards and more.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Required Competencies

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across internal operational teams.
• Strong attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and a commitment to delivering work right first time.
• High level of adaptability and composure, with the ability to solve problems and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Outstanding time management and organisational skills under minimal supervision.
• Proficiency across IT.
• Ability and confidence to communicate effectively between stakeholders, departments, and clients.
• Flexibility and adaptability (it may be required to travel on short notice for both long and short periods of time).

Required Work Experience

• Previous professional work experience or an internship in a commercial environment (is desired but not essential).
• Have used Microsoft office tools (such as spreadsheets, Excel, Word).

Required Qualifications

• Have a degree /diploma /qualification showing an ability to learn to a high level.
• A UK driving licence is desired.

Required Languages

• Second language or ability and desire to learn new languages (the most desirable are Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Mandarin).
