Job Description:

The role:

The Operations Engineering Lead is responsible for leading engineering functions related to Maintenance, Facilities, Utilities, and Reliability to support the establishment and startup of Lonza’s new site in Reading, UK (Project Falcon).

Reporting to the Operations Leader, the role is a key member of the Operations Leadership Team, collaborating with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Development Services, Capital Projects, and Quality Control, as well as the Slough Site Engineering team.

The candidate must have significant experience in leading engineering functions such as Maintenance, Reliability, Utilities, or Facilities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Serve as the main interface between engineering end-users and the project team, ensuring effective communication and alignment.
  • Provide input across all project phases, from design to operational deployment.
  • Develop and implement strategies for Maintenance, Reliability, and Utilities following standard processes.
  • Implement the Business Readiness Programme to ensure operational preparedness at launch.
  • Develop and coordinate operational documentation, including SOPs.
  • Participate in safety, process, and technical risk assessments to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
  • Engage the engineering team with Business Readiness and Organizational Efficiency programmes.
  • Support the engineering-related aspects of the Change Management Programme in collaboration with HR.

Key requirements:

  • Proven experience leading multiple complex initiatives successfully as an engineering change leader.
  • Experience managing diverse teams to enhance competitiveness and innovation.
  • Effective communication skills at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple cross-functional teams simultaneously.
  • Track record of planning and delivering projects on time, results-focused.
