Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking an Operational Improvement Engineer to lead lean manufacturing and process improvement initiatives. You will analyse production data, implement RCA and Six Sigma methodologies, and drive ongoing improvements in safety, quality and efficiency.

The role collaborates with Production, Maintenance, Engineering and Quality teams to deliver measurable benefits, develop business cases and track performance improvements.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management or a related discipline.
  • Experience delivering process improvement or continuous improvement projects within manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, RCA, Kaizen and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret operational, manufacturing and performance data to support decision-making.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver measurable business improvements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and continuous improvement reporting tools is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead manufacturing and process improvement projects to enhance safety, quality, productivity and operational performance.
  • Analyse production processes, equipment performance and operational data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing, Root Cause Analysis, Six Sigma and structured problem-solving methodologies to address operational challenges.
  • Reduce process variation, defects, rework and waste through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Improve production throughput, equipment reliability, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and process capability.
  • Facilitate investigations into safety, quality and production issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with teams including Production, Engineering, Maintenance and Quality to deliver operational improvements.
  • Develop business cases, project plans and performance metrics to support improvement activities.
  • Monitor project progress and track realised benefits including productivity gains, cost savings and quality improvements.
  • Coach and support employees in continuous improvement tools, problem-solving techniques and best practices.
  • Promote a culture of operational excellence, employee engagement and continuous learning.

As an Operational Improvement Engineer, you will be responsible for identifying, developing and implementing initiatives that improve manufacturing performance, product quality, workplace safety, equipment reliability and operational efficiency. Working closely with Production, Maintenance, Engineering and Quality teams, you will lead process improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing, Root Cause Analysis, problem-solving techniques and data-driven decision-making.

You will analyse operational performance, identify opportunities for improvement and implement sustainable solutions that reduce waste, improve productivity and support business objectives. All activities must be delivered in compliance with safety, quality, environmental and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications
  • Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management or a related discipline.
  • Experience delivering process improvement or continuous improvement projects within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Kaizen and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret operational, manufacturing and performance data to support decision-making.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver measurable business improvements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and continuous improvement reporting tools is desirable.
