Job summary

Build Recruitment Limited is seeking an Operations Director in Essex, UK. The role leads strategic delivery of repairs, voids and minor works contracts with a focus on KPI attainment, profitability and client satisfaction.

Hybrid working is offered with a strong emphasis on safety, quality and leadership across a multi-site operation. Candidate will manage P&L, engage housing associations and local authorities, and report progress to the Board.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to lead day-to-day responsive repairs, voids and minor works contracts with KPI/SLA targets.
• Strong P&L ownership and cash flow/cost management experience.
• Experience building long-term relationships with housing associations and local authorities.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership across contracts and drive performance.
• Maintain zero-harm, safety culture and high quality standards across all contracts.
• Direct and mentor a multi-tiered operations team to high performance.
• Produce detailed progress and performance reports for the Board and clients.
• Review operational schedules, programs and resource planning using IT tools.

Day to Day for Operations Director:

• Contract Delivery: Strategic leadership across day-to-day responsive repairs, voids, and minor works contracts, ensuring KPIs, SLAs, and customer satisfaction targets are consistently hit.
• Commercial Acumen: Full P&L responsibility, overseeing cash flow, cost management, and operational profitability alongside the commercial team.
• Client Relationships: Act as the key executive contact for housing associations and local authority clients, building long-term partnerships and managing framework performance.
• Safety & Quality: Drive a zero-harm, work-safe culture and maintain high standards of Health & Safety, compliance, and quality across all contracts.
• Leadership & Team Management: Direct and mentor a multi-tiered operational team, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.
• Planning & Reporting: Produce and present detailed progress and performance reports to the Board and client stakeholders.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong IT skills (MS Office, MS Project) with the ability to review operational schedules, programs, and resource planning.
