Job description
About Our Client

Soho Housing is a community-based housing association with a distinct identity. For half a century, we have played a key role in sustaining residential communities within Soho and other prime central London locations. Soho Housing is one of the larger landlords in Soho and Covent Garden and is a high value organisation with a diverse portfolio including valuable commercial investments. Our location, heritage, innovation and success mean we punch well above our weight in terms of local influence.

This is an important appointment for Soho as we look to strengthen our resident and community-focused service across housing operations. The newly appointed Operations Director will be part of a four-person Executive alongside the Chief Executive, Finance Director and Commercial Director.

Job Description
  • Supporting the Board and the Chief Executive in ensuring the delivery of the overall strategy and business plan for Soho.
  • Working with the Executive Team to challenge the status quo and explore alternative ways of working which optimise resources and secure strong internal controls.
  • Developing and maintaining partnerships and acting as an ambassador for Soho's work in general and this service in particular.
  • Leading the Operations Team encouraging collaboration and accountability, to support the organisational culture for high performance, driving improvements and efficiency, with a focus on impact.
  • Creating a culture of outstanding service delivery within the team, including a focus on strong and effective communication.
  • Delivering customer services adopting best practice from within and beyond the housing sector, continually monitoring and responding to feedback and the changing operating and strategic environment.
  • Embedding a safety-first culture in all housing management operations and taking responsibility as Statutory Health and Safety Lead under all relevant H&S law and regulation.
  • Ensuring homes are properly maintained and overseeing implementation of retrofit initiatives to deliver EPC C by 2030.
  • Developing and motivating colleagues to improve their learning, their work effectiveness and their productivity through role modelling and exemplary leadership and fostering an inclusive environment that values diversity and supports the growth and contribution of all individuals.
The Successful Applicant

You will have experience managing Housing and Property functions within the wider social housing sector. A proven track record of optimising a business's performance and board interaction are also key skills for this role. Strong leadership skills with an enthusiasm for your area of expertise and a healthy interest in the detail where necessary, will help the new Operations Director succeed.

This is a genuine opportunity to work for a high-profile organisation, with an impressive Executive that has both a clear vision and unique proposition in the sector.
