Operations Development Manager - 3PL Management

About the role
This role is focused on the overall development of our Marketplace operations for 3PL management. As an Operations Development Manager, you will translate strategy into action, executing plans brilliantly and working collaboratively and cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders. You will typically lead multiple projects, people, and/or be a subject matter expert. You set the standard and foster a culture of excellence.

You will be responsible for:

  1. Defining project and scope clearly from the beginning, keeping it on track and in scope.
  2. Using Tesco project management principles: customer management, project setup/organisation, budget control with cost savings, and team communication/motivation.
  3. Allocating resources, engaging, and motivating subject matter experts.
  4. Designing a clear implementation programme, collaborating with people and communications teams.
  5. Managing risks and issues, leading a clear governance programme.
  6. Managing interdependencies and conflicts, working with others for project objectives and the good of customers, colleagues, and the planet.
  7. Understanding technology's key role in Tesco's future, ensuring digital is part of key decisions.
  8. Being flexible, managing various projects and programmes across different areas, improving customer shopping experience or simplifying operations with new initiatives.
  9. Owning processes and systems, ensuring they are effective and efficient, spotting issues and finding simple solutions.
  10. Monitoring progress, updating team members and business leaders on results.
  11. Operating using various project delivery methods for the best outcomes.
  12. Closing projects, completing post-implementation reviews, sharing lessons learned, ensuring continuous improvements.
  13. Inspiring, engaging, and leading others to achieve great results, making customers and colleagues feel valued.
  14. Sharing knowledge and passion, making Tesco a great place to work and shop.

You will need:
The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive end-to-end project management skills, including navigating a complex network of collaborators. They should hold a qualification in Project Management or Continuous Improvement, such as Six Sigma or APM. Proficiency in budget management and commercial savvy is essential. The candidate must demonstrate an inquisitive outlook and a growth mindset, with a proven track record of effective joint business planning. They will be responsible for delivering cross-functional initiatives from concept through to trial and rollout. Experience in customer management, including at executive levels, is required, along with the ability to develop networks beyond their immediate function. The role involves strategy formulation, business development, and corporate development, as well as experience in sizing business opportunities and crafting business cases. Additionally, the candidate should have experience in supply chain management, logistics or couriers, contract negotiation, and setting service level agreements.
