About EPX
EPX empowers customers and teams with trusted data and technology to optimise building performance. We are looking for an experienced Operations Delivery Engineer to help deliver our EDGE Industrial platform across commercial and industrial environments.
The opportunity
This is a hands-on, technically varied role responsible for surveying, designing, deploying, testing, commissioning and validating electrical systems, building controls, metering and monitoring solutions. You will work closely with clients, project teams, suppliers and installation partners to ensure systems meet design specifications, operational requirements and EPX quality standards. While the role is primarily focused on our EDGE Industrial service, you may also support other EPX platforms when required.
What you will do
- Complete technical site surveys, review drawings and specifications, interrogate existing monitoring and control systems, and determine site-specific installation requirements.
- Develop technical designs and proposals using annotated layouts, photographs, points lists, equipment schedules, wiring schematics and technical specifications.
- Create metering and monitoring strategies and help define how EPX systems will integrate with or enhance existing building infrastructure.
- Support project teams with works package plans, sequencing, risk assessments, method statements, COSHH assessments, permits, isolations and site logistics.
- Provide onsite deployment support, including contractor training and supervision, site inductions, toolbox talks, technical escalation and quality control.
- Commission and validate electrical, gas, water and thermal metering, environmental sensing, automatic controls, BMS monitoring and infrastructure monitoring.
- Undertake functional, performance and reliability testing, investigate deviations from design, and coordinate corrective action with project stakeholders.
- Prepare commissioning records, test reports, as-built documents, metadata, O&M manuals and digital site plans, and support platform configuration and client handover.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, building controls and connectivity issues through onsite and advanced remote technical support.
- Support data analysis, technical reporting and the identification of anomalies, inefficient operation and infrastructure failures.
- Ensure work complies with applicable codes, standards and EPX requirements, including NICEIC, CDM, HSE and ISO frameworks.
- Participate in an out-of-hours remote technical support service when required.
What you will bring
- A full electrotechnical qualification and the electrical certification required under applicable UK legislation.
- ECS JIB certified engineering credentials and relevant commissioning or electrical systems certifications.
- Extensive experience in commercial and industrial electrical installations, including the deployment and commissioning of building controls and metering systems.
- Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical installation, electrical codes and standards, and safe systems of work.
- Experience developing retrofit designs and strategies for building controls, infrastructure controls, environmental monitoring and metering systems.
- Working knowledge of BMS, IoT and HVAC systems, together with strong testing, commissioning, fault-finding and troubleshooting capability.
- Experience supervising third-party suppliers, installation contractors or delivery partners.
- Proficiency in electrical design tools such as Microsoft Visio, plus confidence using Microsoft 365 and project management software.
- A valid driving licence and the ability and willingness to travel extensively to project sites.
- Strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, sound judgement and a collaborative, solutions-focused approach.
Desirable experience and certifications
- Experience working within the UK rail sector.
- NICEIC certification experience.
- IPAF, PASMA and First Aid at Work certifications.
- Experience deploying edge-based IoT systems that integrate with cloud platforms.
- Networking knowledge and experience with tools such as Wrike, Corel Vector or Adobe Acrobat.
