Operations Associate (Co-ordinator) – Checkatrade LABS

Location: London (Hybrid – 4 days in office)

Full-Time | Permanent

Be Part of the Future of Innovation at Checkatrade

At Checkatrade, we believe in the power of homes to improve lives, support livelihoods, and build communities. That’s why our mission is to be the trusted foundation of every home by connecting people with the trades and tools to make home improvements easy.

Since our launch in 1998, we’ve built a UK-leading brand, expanded our trade base, and seen record levels of consumer demand. But this is just the beginning. With a clear ambition to accelerate our growth and transition into a full-scale marketplace model, we have launched Checkatrade LABS, an agile, fast-moving team responsible for testing, developing, and launching new business models and products.

This brand-new role of Operations Associate offers an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of this innovation. You will play a key role in bringing new initiatives to market, working alongside product managers, engineers, and operators in an environment where ideas quickly turn into real products that shape the future of Checkatrade.

This role would suit someone in the early stages of their career who is looking to develop their skills and lean into the innovation space. You’ll gain hands-on experience working with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment, making an immediate impact while building a strong foundation in product operations, data analysis, and strategic execution.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • End-to-End Innovation – Support the full lifecycle of innovation, from ideation to product launch and early incubation.

  • Operational Execution – Ensure new and existing Labs initiatives are successfully executed by collaborating with in-house teams, tracking launch timelines, and meeting key deliverables.

  • Driving Efficiency – Identify opportunities to improve operational processes and embed key performance metrics into daily workflows.

  • Data-Driven Decision Making – Use analytical tools to interpret data, track marketplace dynamics, measure operational performance, and drive continuous improvements.

  • Solving Complex Challenges – Work closely with cross-functional teams to address high-impact problems, ensuring our new initiatives enhance commercial success and complement existing products.

  • Industry Alignment – Stay informed on market trends, industry best practices, and new technologies to help define our unique value proposition and shape the pipeline for future Labs initiatives.

Why Join Checkatrade LABS?

  • Innovate at Speed – Work in a fast-moving team that is bringing new ideas to life, testing, learning, and iterating quickly.

  • Brand-New Role – Be part of something fresh, where you’ll have the opportunity to shape the role, set best practices, and make a significant impact from day one.

  • Make a Real Impact – You’ll have direct responsibility and influence from day one, shaping new products that redefine our industry.

  • Startup Culture with Big Business Backing – Enjoy the agility of a startup environment while benefiting from the resources and scale of an established company.

  • Collaborate with the Best – Work alongside some of the sharpest minds in product, technology, and strategy, learning from a diverse and talented team.

  • Growth & Development – Gain exposure to the world of innovation and digital product development, making this an ideal opportunity for someone at the start of their career looking to grow in this space.

What We’re Looking For

  • A proactive, self-starter who thrives in fast-moving environments and can navigate ambiguity with confidence.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and develop actionable recommendations. Experience using analytical tools such as Excel (required); BI/SQL tools would be an advantage.

  • An ability to communicate with different teams, influence stakeholders, and solve problems efficiently.

  • Prior experience in a fast-paced environment, such as consulting, banking, a marketplace business, or a startup/scale-up, would be beneficial but not essential.

  • A results-driven mindset, with a passion for innovation and operational excellence.

  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a structured approach to problem-solving.

  • A desire to learn, experiment, and continuously improve ways of working.

Working Arrangements

  • This role is London-based, with potential travel across the UK and to our support centre in Portsmouth.

  • The LABS team follows a hybrid working policy, requiring at least four days in the office each week to foster collaboration and rapid innovation.

Is This Role Right for You?

This role is perfect for someone at the earlier stages of their career who is eager to get hands-on experience in an innovation-driven, fast-paced environment. If you find yourself asking “How can I get this done today rather than tomorrow?” and enjoy working in a team that embraces experimentation and rapid iteration, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
