Job summary

Cardiff Metropolitan University is seeking an Operations Assistant to help run the campus sports facilities, including front of house, safety procedures and supporting the sports programme for students, staff and the community.

You will work as part of a team, using Microsoft Office, with emphasis on customer service, bookings and guidance to facilities. Prior experience in a sports environment is preferred.

Job description

The Operations Assistant is a key role in delivering our sports facilities, working across areas of the operation, including front of house and within the sports facilities to assist the team in providing a high-quality facility, a safe environment in which students, athletes and the community can train, compete and spectate.

As our Operations Assistant, you’ll:

  • Assist with the operation of the campus sports facilities and associated areas in terms of front of house/reception, lifeguarding (if NPLQ qualified), security, cleanliness and tidiness, safety of customers and emergency procedures.
  • Assist in the implementation of the sports programme ensuring the needs of students, staff and external users are met.
  • Advise customers regarding booking enquiries, in addition to checking unauthorised entrants and prevent inappropriate or illegal use of the sports facilities and equipment. This may be face-to-face, by email or by telephone.
  • Support with enquiries related to the sports facilities and associated areas such as bookings, memberships, prices, directions to facilities.


What you’ll bring

You’ll be able to work collaboratively as part of a team, and display effective communication and time management skills. An ability to use Microsoft Office platforms will help to ensure effective utilisation of our facilities. Additionally, you’ll bring previous work experience of working within a sports environment.
