Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom (Remote work available), this role involves maintaining and commissioning telecommunications infrastructure, including high-speed fibre and copper networks along major motorways such as the M25, M4, M11, and others. You will be part of a dedicated team ensuring the connectivity and safety of critical infrastructure, performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs in the field.

Responsibilities include:

• Attending to cable faults and repairs on copper and fibre networks.
• Completing commissioning activities according to standards, on schedule and within budget.
• Responding to equipment issues in transmission buildings and roadside cabinets.
• Performing general maintenance and testing of fibre and copper cables.
• Accurately completing all required documentation.

Candidate Requirements:

Previous experience in a similar role is essential, preferably with fault finding and testing in fibre or copper environments. Key skills include:

• Experience with motorway communications systems.
• Knowledge of telecommunication networks, copper jointing, fibre splicing, and testing.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Ability to repair fibre or copper cable faults.
• Availability for overtime or callouts as required.
• Full UK driving license.
