Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom (Remote)

We are currently recruiting for an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to work on Highways England Contracts, carrying out maintenance and commissioning activities within your designated area. This includes the top of M25, M4, M11, and the bottom of M1, A14, M40, A1(M).

Our Operations and Maintenance Engineers are essential in delivering our contracts, whether by maintenance, installation, cabling, or civils works. Help build and keep the nation's critical infrastructure connected and protected 24/7.

What you’ll do:

• Attend to cable breaks and repair copper and fibre cables to maintain network operation.
• Ensure all equipment commissioning is completed to standard, on time, and within budget.
• Attend to equipment issues in Transmission Buildings and Roadside Cabinets within your area, day or night.
• Perform general maintenance and commissioning of equipment, testing on fibre and copper cables.
• Complete all required documentation promptly.

Who you are:

You should have prior experience in a similar role, with familiarity in fault finding and testing within fibre or copper environments.

Key Requirements:

• Experience with motorway communications or related equipment/systems.
• Knowledge of telecommunication networks, copper jointing, and fibre splicing & testing.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Ability to repair fibre or copper cable breaks.
• Willingness to work overtime or on call when required.
• Full UK driving license.
