Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom (Remote)

We are currently recruiting for an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to work on Highways England Contracts, carrying out maintenance and commissioning activities within your designated area. This includes the top of M25, M4, M11 and bottom of the M1, A14, M40, A1(M).

Our Operations and Maintenance Engineers are critical in the delivery of our contracts, whether delivering or supervising maintenance, installation, cabling, or civils works. Help build and keep the nation's critical infrastructure connected and protected 24/7.

Responsibilities:

• Attending cable breaks and repairing copper and fibre cables to maintain network connectivity.
• Ensuring all equipment commissioning is completed to standard, on time, and within budget.
• Responding to equipment issues within Transmission Buildings and Roadside Cabinets in your area, day or night.
• Performing general maintenance and commissioning of fibre and copper equipment, including testing.
• Completing all required documentation promptly.

Candidate Requirements:

Previous experience in a similar role, with familiarity in fault finding and testing in fibre or copper environments.

• Experience working on motorway communications or related systems.
• Knowledge of telecommunication networks, copper jointing, fibre splicing & testing.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Ability to repair fibre or copper cable breaks.
• Willingness to work overtime or on call when required.
• Full UK driving license.
