Job Description:

Alternative investment fund Adeline seeks Operations and Communications Assistant to bring organisational flair to its growing team and beautiful Holborn office space. We invite candidates to apply over email rather than using the EasyApply route.

About Adeline

We are a London-based investment fund for pre-seed and seed-stage startups, creative projects and scientific research. Adeline unlocks what science, technology and the arts can do for the world. We blend meticulous systems thinking with the wisdom of the humanities.

We drink a lot of coffee, run the occasional oddball passion project – and above all, we make purpose-led investments in businesses, creative communities and research.

About the role

Our characterful office is central to how we work, and we have ambitious plans to evolve it into an incubator for our growing portfolio of ventures. So we’re looking for an individual who is excited by the possibilities of spaces, and adept at maintaining them. If you’re particular about mug choice and passionate about making places that inspire people, this could be you.

This is a role where organisational precision is key. You’ll be abreast of deadlines and the team’s calendar, comfortable filing invoices, organising operational paperwork – and your colleagues too if necessary.

With good writing skills and solid design instincts, you’ll also help communicate Adeline’s voice and vision to the world. That might look like uploading website content, picking out set dressing for an event booth, or drafting press releases.

The role calls for an adaptable person with versatile skills; we’re a small team and Adeline’s Operations Assistant will need to pitch wherever needed. But our informal environment and startup mentality offers great possibilities for the right person. Adeline is a company where anyone can pitch a great idea and see it through, from community clubs to collaborating with arts organisations.

A science or arts background is not essential and we’re open to unconventional CVs – what is essential is a curiosity about the impact of your work on the world.

Responsibilities

This is a role which will evolve; responsibilities right now would include the following.

In content and communications:

  • Upload and manage content on our website
  • Support copywriting and formatting tasks
  • Assist with visual content
  • Manage a shared calendar and prompt the team on upcoming events and deadlines

In facilities and operations:

  • Coordinate building maintenance and repairs
  • Assist with invoicing and accounts admin
  • Keep the office stocked and tidy
  • General assistant duties to help the team run smoothly

Compensation and perks

  • £28,000, pro rata at 2-3 days a week
  • Annual professional development budget of £1,000
  • 8 hours per day, with core hours of 10am-4pm
  • Located in Holborn, central London

To apply, please send your CV and a 400-word statement to [emailprotected] with the subject ‘Operations Assistant’. Your statement should answer to following questions:

  • Why would you be suitable for the role?
  • What innovations or trends in science or the arts were you excited by in the last year?
  • Briefly describe a place whose form is perfect for its function, whether that's an art gallery or your own kitchen
