Operational Team Manager – Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust

You will be responsible for the management of the South West Essex At Risk of Mental State (ARMS) Team covering Thurrock/Basildon/Brentwood/ Wickford and lead in delivering a service to clients identified as having an At Risk Mental State (ARMS).

As a specialist mental health service, ARMS is based on NICE-recommended interventions which include comprehensive assessment and psychological interventions for psychosis or co-existing mental health problems (e.g. depression, anxiety, emerging personality disorder, substance misuse). These activities are often supported with family interventions, care coordination, social prescribing and education/employment support.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will lead a wider team of Psychological therapists, Recovery Coordinators, Support Workers and Employment/Education Advisor as part of the ARMS team. This is a newly commissioned service aiming to recruit supportive, highly skilled, established and professionals. The ARMS service will work closely with ESTEP (Essex Support and Treatment for Early Psychosis). As part of the wider preventative mental health strategy, the service will develop and maintain links with other community mental health teams and colleagues within In-Patient settings.

Job responsibilities

Responsible for the overall delivery of a range of evidence based interventions to service users based on identified needs utilising agreed patient reported outcome measure tools and assessments such as CAARMS

Ensure service users are seen in a timely manner by the right person, at the right time, in the right location.

Implement a team approach to case management where practitioners are not isolated in decision making and have the ability to access a range of expertise to inform decision making.

To take responsibility for supervising and managing clinical activity and casework

Develop robust interagency relationships with key stakeholders and other outside agencies supporting the development of the integrated care pathways and locality working.

Ensure the efficient and effective operation of the service, managing budgets, matching resources to need, and coping flexibly with workload pressures.

Work collaboratively with the Mid & South Essex care unit corporate support services to establish and manage operational systems which highlight early warning of deviation from financial / activity targets, and initiate corrective action.

Assist in planning and managing the implementation of projects to improve facilities and working practices, as agreed with the Associate Director .

Ensure through implementing effective performance management that all key performance indicators and targets identified by the Trust are met.

Responsible for the coordination and management of the team in providing a safe, effective and therapeutic clinical service, ensuring the delivery of high quality care and support.

Education / Qualification
  • Professional qualification in Mental Health or equivalent
  • Educated to first degree level with evidence of further study or equivalent
  • Nursing and Allied Health and Social Care Professionals
  • Evidence of specialist study / qualifications
  • Qualification in prescribing
Knowledge
  • Understanding of NHS priorities within the sphere of Mental Health and Social Care.
  • Knowledge of service transformation including Primary Care Networks,
  • Understanding of the management and transformation of clinical service.
Skills/Experience
  • Varied clinical experience in a range of Mental Health Services (or other relevant health/social care settings).
