Here in the Serco recruitment team, we're responsible for hiring people that deliver essential public services in Defence, Transport, Justice & Immigration, Citizen Services, and Healthcare.
As the Operational Support Officer, you will report for duty at the appropriate time to check the daily details and commence your post for the day. You will liaise with the Visits Unit Manager or PCO in charge regarding any special instructions for the day ahead. You will ensure that equipment at your work station/post is in good working order and that any required test checks are completed (x-ray equipment, Vis Fingers, metal detectors, etc.).
Operational Support Clerks should be aware of all security measures in place within the visits department and the prison as a whole, noting and reporting any discrepancies or suspicious practices by visitors or staff that may compromise security. You will physically check all visitors, including their person, clothing, and personal items, and verify their ID is correct. You will operate the Camera Room and Visits Podium, advising visitors on what they can and cannot have in their possession under the Offender Management Act 2007 and the regulations of HMP & YOI.

NVQ Level 2 in Customer Services is desirable.
