Job Title: Operations Specialist (Space Tech Startup)

Location: Hybrid - Oxford, Harwell, Woking, or Guildford, UK.

A significant on-site presence (expected to be ~4 days per week) is essential for this role to foster collaboration with the engineering team and build our foundational culture.

About the Role:

The SpaceLead is seeking a highly motivated Operations Specialist for a pioneering UK startup backed by leading institutions. Our client, operating in stealth mode, is developing advanced technology to enable next-generation in-orbit services and satellite operations.

As a foundational member of the team, you will be responsible for building and managing the core operational functions that enable a world-class engineering team to thrive. This is a unique opportunity to shape the operational backbone of a future leader in the space technology sector from its early stages.

What You'll Do:

Design and manage the company's core operational systems and workflows to support rapid scaling.
Oversee the full procurement lifecycle for hardware, software, and services, including supplier negotiation and relationship management.
Manage key people operations, including new hire onboarding, benefits administration support, and maintaining confidential records.
Handle day-to-day financial administration by processing invoices, tracking expenses, and liaising effectively with external accountants.
Act as a central point for administrative and operational matters, organizing team events and fostering a collaborative and efficient company culture.

What You'll Need:

Proven experience in an operations, office management, or senior administrative role, preferably within a dynamic tech startup environment.
Exceptional organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
A proactive, self-starting attitude with the ability to work independently and take ownership of building systems from scratch.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships across all levels of the company.
The ability to handle confidential information with complete discretion.
Experience with procurement, vendor management, and basic HR/finance administration is highly desirable.
Eligibility to work in the UK.
