We have a great opportunity for an Operational Risk Oversight Manager to join our second line of defence Operational Risk Oversight team. The Society is embarking on an exciting period of significant transformational change, and your role will be to provide risk oversight of the operational risk profile.

About the role

  • Provide independent ‘check and challenge’ of operational risks
  • Provide advice and guidance to the first line of defence to ensure operational risks are identified, assessed and appropriately managed
  • Undertake regular and frequent continuous monitoring reviews of programme risks providing prompt and timely feedback to the programme teams
  • Plan and deliver thematic reviews to provide assurance to the Executive Risk Committee and Board Risk Committee over operational risks
  • Liaise with colleagues in the first and third lines of defence to share findings and agree actions
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to be a trusted advisor
  • Support the senior managers with risk reporting and planning

About you

  • Strong risk management experience gained in any of the three lines of defence. Ability to work autonomously and make appropriate assessments of risk and control frameworks, demonstrating excellent business judgement
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the business.
  • Pragmatic, but with the ability to become a trusted advisor to the business to deliver difficult messages when necessary
  • Ability to write succinct reports that clearly articulate the issues for senior stakeholders
  • Knowledge of the financial services regulatory environment
