We are looking for an Operational Risk Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to help design and implement enhancements to 1st and 2nd line risk capabilities for Funding Circle UK, participating in and overseeing key risk management activities and executing applicable risk monitoring, reporting, and governance responsibilities.

What will you be doing?

The appointee will need to work independently and with high initiative to support the Head of Risk & Controls Assurance in embedding a risk management framework and culture to improve risk identification, management, treatment, and reporting across the organization. This role requires collaboration across the business to enhance decision-making, reduce operational risk, and improve resiliency.

• Promoting a strong, continually developing risk culture where managing risk is part of everyday work.
• Driving change and innovation by managing risk processes and treatment plans, providing analysis to keep operational risks within appetite.
• Working closely with Risk Owners/Delegates and the 2nd/3rd Line of Defence to assess and treat risk.
• Providing risk advice and guidance, leading risk initiatives, RCSA, overseeing projects, change programs, and ad-hoc work.
• Developing, reporting, and assessing Key Controls and Key Risk Indicators, conducting risk deep dives.
• Managing issues through tracking, reporting, escalation, and resolution.
• Supporting business owners in designing and testing controls to ensure safe, sustainable operations within risk appetite.
• Providing risk briefings to senior colleagues, ensuring risks, issues, and breaches are monitored and escalated appropriately.
• Proactively identifying and mitigating risks, issues, or control weaknesses in daily work.

What we’re looking for

• Experience in Operational Risk Management, especially in financial services/lending, across first and second line of defence.
• Experience developing and testing lending controls.
• Solid understanding of the three lines of defence operating model.
• Ability to identify complex operational risks, with a proven track record in managing change, technology, and third-party risks.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret data and provide clear recommendations.
• Ability to build trusted relationships with peers and senior stakeholders.
• Autonomous working style with adaptability to changing priorities.
