Job summary

FirstBank UK Limited is actively seeking an Operational Risk Manager to strengthen the second line of defense. The role focuses on challenging risk controls, maintaining KRIs and supporting risk reporting to senior management.

The ideal candidate will bring end-to-end operational risk experience within financial services, strong analytical skills and an ability to collaborate across risk and control functions. This is a hybrid role with three days in the office and two days work-from-home.

Qualifications

• Strong Operational Risk experience within financial services
• End-to-end experience across the operational risk framework
• Experience with RCSAs, risk events, control testing, KRIs and risk reporting
• Track record of providing effective second-line challenge to the first line
• Strong analytical skills and excellent Excel capability
• Ability to turn risk information into clear conclusions and recommendations
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, including senior management
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a small team

Responsibilities

• Manage and challenge Risk & Control Assessments (RCSAs/RCAs)
• Undertake Control Assurance Testing (CAT) and assess control effectiveness
• Support investigation and challenge of operational risk events
• Manage and monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs)
• Maintain risk issues and event logs and challenge remediation plans
• Analyse operational risk data and produce MI and Risk Committee reporting
• Assess the Bank's operational risk profile against risk appetite
• Provide credible second-line challenge to first-line risk owners
• Identify emerging risks and recommend remediation actions
• Support risk awareness, training and embedding of a strong risk culture
• Keep up to date with FCA/PRA requirements and Consumer Duty

Due to business requirements & growth, we are now looking to acquire the services of an Operational Risk Manager.

• Please note that this is a hybrid role with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home

Key Responsibilities:

• Managing and challenging Risk & Control Assessments (RCSAs/RCAs)
• Undertaking Control Assurance Testing (CAT) and assessing control effectiveness
• Supporting the investigation and challenge of operational risk events
• Managing and monitoring Key Risk Indicators (KRIs)
• Maintaining risk issues and event logs and challenging remediation plans
• Analysing operational risk data and producing meaningful MI and Risk Committee reporting
• Assessing the Bank's operational risk profile against risk appetite
• Providing credible second-line challenge to first-line risk owners
• Identifying emerging risks and recommending proportionate remediation
• Supporting risk awareness, training and the embedding of a strong risk culture
• Keeping up to date with relevant FCA/PRA requirements and Consumer Duty

Key Skills/Experience:

• Strong Operational Risk experience within financial services
• Genuine end-to-end experience across the operational risk framework
• Experience with RCSAs, risk events, control testing, KRIs and risk reporting
• A track record of providing effective second-line challenge to the first line
• Strong analytical skills and excellent Excel capability
• The ability to turn risk information into clear conclusions and recommendations — understanding the "so what?"
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, including confidence dealing with senior management
• The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a small team
