Team/Role Overview

The Operational Risk Assurance team supports the Global Operational Risk function by defining and maintaining Methodologies and Frameworks for undertaking Credible Challenge of the 1st Line of Defense across all business and operational risk categories within Citi. The team also oversees the execution of challenges undertaken by the ORM function and conducts Quality Assurance over ORM’s activities. As an Operational Risk Management Vice President in the Independent Assurance and Quality Assurance team, you will manage challenge methodologies, ensure alignment with Operational Risk Management's second line of defense, oversee challenge execution, identify best practices, and provide guidance on compliance. You will also educate global ORM teams on methodologies and tools, fostering collaboration with risk experts and stakeholders. Your role includes continuously improving these methodologies based on feedback and industry changes, and participating in risk-related projects to enhance risk management effectiveness.

What you’ll do

1. Manage a portfolio of challenge methodologies aligned with ORM activities as the second line of defense, setting routines, practices, capabilities, and minimum requirements for independent challenge.
2. Oversee and track ORM challenge inventory, ensuring completeness with documented roles and responsibilities within Operational Risk Policies, Standards, and Procedures.
3. Develop and implement communication strategies for ORM challenge methodologies to ensure effective dissemination of updates and best practices.
4. Educate ORM teams on existing methodologies and tools supporting the Independent Challenge framework and Quality Assurance programs, contributing to increased efficiency and effectiveness.
5. Collaborate with ORM coverage teams and Risk Subject Matter Experts to provide guidance, facilitate knowledge sharing, and ensure effective communication of emerging risks and best practices through meetings, workshops, and shared resources.
6. Lead the development and implementation of best practices and learnings aligned with challenge methodologies, collaborating with experts to ensure accuracy and relevance, and updating materials based on feedback and industry evolution.
7. Coordinate or lead ORM QA activities through the centralized QA operating model.
8. Identify and share best practices from QA observations with global ORM teams.
9. Prepare materials using Microsoft Office to communicate key updates on challenge methodologies, participate in risk and control projects, and lead initiatives as needed.

• Attention to detail with strong analytical skills, stakeholder engagement, data analysis, and presentation skills.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent.
