Your Role as an Operational Middle Manager

As an Operational Middle Manager, you will provide strong leadership to staff and take ownership of the performance and delivery of all departmental functions. You will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and dignified environment for both residents and staff, one that supports rehabilitative culture and meets the needs of those in custody.

You will be responsible for managing resources effectively, ensuring compliance with national frameworks and internal policies, and embedding a culture of engagement and development. In addition to overseeing the daily operations of the department, you will be expected to promote safety, decency, and inclusion, ensuring service delivery targets are met and exceeded.

You will deputise for the functional head when required, contribute to strategic planning, and be a visible leader who embodies the values of the organisation. Your ability to manage incidents, respond to complaints, and ensure operational stability will be vital to the success of this role.

The Ideal Candidate

• Direct operational experience within a prison environment.
• Knowledge of criminal justice/prison legislation, policies, and inspection processes.
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and engage staff.
• Commitment to personal and team development.
