We are currently seeking a part-time team member to join us on a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover. This role is offered as a job share, working 30 hours per week.

Working Pattern:

Applicants must be available to work either Monday to Thursday or Tuesday to Friday.

Your mission: to champion person-centred care at every turn. You'll ensure the delivery of top-notch services tailored to individuals' needs, managing rosters, scheduling, data management, and more. Experience with rota management and scheduling software like Access People Planner is a plus!

Contract: Permanent
Location: Remote/home working, with occasional meetings at The Action Group’s Prentice Centre Office in Edinburgh. Travel to this location from home is not covered.

Main Purpose:

The Operational Lead manages The Action Group's Care at Home and Housing Support Service operations, focusing on rota management, financial processing, and ensuring high standards of support. This role involves team collaboration, performance monitoring, and process improvement. It requires PVG membership for adults and children. Candidates with recent residence outside the UK must provide a Criminal Convictions Certificate, at their own expense.

About the role

Key Responsibilities:

Onboarding:

  • Ensure safe and positive onboarding for new staff, including mandatory training, shadow shifts, and record keeping.

Rota Management:

  • Create and maintain staff rotas using Access People Planner, ensuring compliance and adequate coverage.
  • Plan rotas to support work-life balance and meet service needs.
  • Manage annual leave, TOIL, overtime, and casual worker scheduling, ensuring accurate records and payments.
  • Support staff absence management and performance data analysis.

Communication:

  • Foster effective communication with the team and leadership.

Business Management:

  • Support resource allocation, financial accuracy, and contract management.

Recruitment:

  • Identify staffing needs, collaborate on advertising, and participate in recruitment processes.

General Duties:

  • Work in line with The Action Group’s mission and policies, maintain confidentiality, and support continuous professional development.
