Operations Technician - Critical Infrastructure
Location: Beckton, UK
Industry: Chemical / Power / Bio / Waste to Energy / Refinery / COMAH

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Operations Technician to join a leading infrastructure business operating key energy sites across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic, high-performing environment where safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement are at the heart of operations.


Shift Pattern

Rotating shift pattern: (2 days, 3 nights, 4 off, 3 days, 2 nights, 5 off, 2 days, 2 nights, 12 off)
Shift timings: 06:00 - 18:00 / 18:00 - 06:00


Key Responsibilities
  1. Work as part of a shift team to ensure safe and efficient operations, maintenance, and process improvements.
  2. Monitor, inspect, and control plant parameters, responding to operational requirements.
  3. Conduct first-line fault diagnosis and repairs to maintain smooth plant performance.
  4. Operate and interpret data from the Distributed Control System (DCS).
  5. Support plant start-up and shutdown processes, including emergency shutdown procedures.
  6. Ensure compliance with SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) standards.
  7. Contribute to safe systems of work, permit-to-work processes, and risk assessments.

What We're Looking For
  1. A time-served apprenticeship, NVQ, or equivalent qualification in an engineering or process discipline.
  2. Experience in fault-finding, root cause analysis, and problem-solving in an operational environment.
  3. Ability to follow procedures and work systematically to meet operational targets.
  4. Strong understanding of Safe Systems of Work, including permits, risk assessments, and method statements.
  5. Proactive approach to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
